Web Changes

This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.

November 5, 2004

WISL is pleased to welcome Queens University Library as a customer. Orphaned by their previous supplier when the Global Bank Authorization Service implemented a revised interface, Library Business Officer, Nancy Petri, contacted WISL early in 2004. The problem involved replacing a device that allowed Library customers to load mag stripe "copy cards" with money to use with copiers and printers. WISL replaced the custom device with a standard PC platform that interfaces with the "copy card" reader/writer and with WISL's Bank Authorization module running on a Windows 2003 server. The solution was implemented during the summer and has been successfully utilized in the fall rush.

We have now developed a client/server implementation of WISL's QUIKREP facility. The major objective of this effort is to provide a user interface that is similar to other facilities that are in common use on the desktop(eg. EXCEL, WORD, WordPerfect etc.). Although the integration of the server text based version of QUIKREP with these facilities is quite extensive, the integration with QUIKREP/CS appears even more seamless.

Adopting the familiar desktop graphical user interface is advantageous since QUIKREP is not a facility that tends to be utilized as frequently as others. Hence the more familiar mechanism for navigating through the application reduces the start-up time and eases the transition between it and other desktop facilities.

A PowerPoint demonstration of QUIKREP/CS is available on the Docdemo page of our website http://www.wisl.com/docdemo. If you have not already registered as a user on our website you will be requested to do so before gaining access to the docdemo page.
