There are a wide variety of methods used by carriers to provide rate quotes. FAIS Rates Maintenance, developed   to create and maintain an electronic record of rate quotes, has an emphasis on flexibility. Most rate quotes can be handled as described in the PowerPoint demonstration referenced below. Other quote types with special characteristics are handled by five additional menu actions, which address Piece quotes, Table Quotes, Discount quotes, Mileage quotes, and Cube quotes respectively. The module also includes a complete capability to enter and maintain tariff tables.

    Fais Rates Maintenance provides a complete clerical data entry mechanism to collect rate quote and tariff table data and store it in a manner that it may be utilized for automatic rating. An alternative to this mechanism provides for collection of rates data through EDI or proprietary transmission from carriers. The facilities to support this alternative are provided by the facilities of the FAIS Shipping Interface module and WISL EDIT.

    Clerical users must be trained in the data entry facilities of FAIS Rates Maintenance.
